Submit Your Ideas for the 2015 Minnesota Leather Pride Theme

With a new year on the horizon, it is time for us to start thinking about the theme for Minnesota Leather Pride in 2015!

As we have done in past years, the Events Committee is asking the community for suggestions for a theme for 2015. The committee will review all the possibilities submitted at the November Events Committee Meeting and narrow the choices down to three or four (3-4) options. These options will then be presented to the community at events and online during November and December for individuals to vote on the theme they like best.

The results of the voting will be revealed at the January Board Meeting and our theme for 2015 will be officially annouced.

So, brainstorm! Then send us your ideas for a 2015 theme. Ideas should be emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Proposed themes must be submitted by noon on Monday, November 3 in order to presented and reviewed at the November Meeting.

Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride contest needs a logo and we need your help!

On September 12, Minnesota Leather Pride announced the first ever Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride contest to be held April 3-5, 2015 as part of Minnesota Leather Pride Weekend along with the Minnesota Leather Sir and Minnesota Leather boy contests

Now we need an image for the Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride contest for this year and years to come! The image will be used in promotions for Minnesota Leather Pride Weekend appearing with Minnesota Leather Sir/boy graphic.

The logo for Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride should reflect what it it means to be a proud person who identifies as a woman in our leather/kink/BDSM community.

The winner of Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride will go on to compete at Great Lakes Leather Alliance for the title of Great Lakes Ms. Leather Pride. Winners of the regional title may compete at International Ms. Leather or International Olympus Leather.

Consider looking at other women's leather/kink contests like Ms. Iowa Leather, Ms. Toronto Leather, American Leatherwoman (part of American Brotherhood Weekend) for possible ideas or inspiration.

All submissions must be received by October 20, 2014. Email the image along with an breif statement or description to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Submissions will be reviewed by the Minnesota Leather Pride Weekend committee, who will present a recommendation to the Minnesota Leather Pride board for approval at their meeting on November 3.

Minnesota Leather Pride announces inaugural Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride contest

Capitalizing on the momentum generated at Great Lakes Leather Alliance where two Minnesotans won regional titles, Minnesota Leather Pride is pleased to announce the first ever Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride contest. The new contest will be part of Minnesota Leather Pride Weekend, which also features the first ever Minnesota Leather Sir and Minnesota Leather boy contests, to be held April 3-5, 2015 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

“When we began planning for Minnesota Leather Pride Weekend, we started with Minnesota Leather Sir and Minnesota Leather boy with the expectation additional contests would be added over time,” said Tim Holden, chair of the Minnesota Leather Pride Weekend committee and member of the Minnesota Leather Pride board. “When Tim Hotchkin won Great Lakes Leather boy and Riches won Great Lakes Ms. Leather Pride, the board agreed the timing was right to add the Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride contest to what is already shaping up to be an exciting weekend!”

The winner of the Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride contest, along with the winners of Minnesota Leather Sir and Minnesota Leather boy, will go on to compete at Great Lakes Leather Alliance held Oct 1-4, 2015 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Contestants for Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride must be 21 years old and identify as a woman in the leather/kink/BDSM community.

“With the addition of Ms. Minnesota Leather Pride to Minnesota Leather Pride Weekend, we feel this event will have something for everyone,” said Holden.

Along with Holden, Bud and Randy Ingram-Lile and Jodi Andersen serve on the Minnesota Leather Pride Weekend committee formed earlier this year.

Minnesota Leather Pride adopts new Mission Statement

After two months of work, the Mission Statement Committee recommended a revised mission statement that condensed the previous mission statement into a single sentence that succinctly states the values and goals of Minnesota Leather Pride. The committee, made of members of the board and the community at large, presented it's recommendation at the September Board Meeting where it was unanimously approved.

The new mission statement reads:

Minnesota Leather Pride celebrates, honors, and nurtures our culture and history by facilitating communication and building alliances among individuals and groups within the leather/kink/BDSM community; offering opportunities for education, social interaction, visibility, activism, and community service.

The focus of the Mission Statement Committee was to find a way to sum up the bullet points in the old mission statement into a short statement that would answer the question: what is Minnesota Leather Pride? The new mission statement will guide the board in planning and future endeavors and serve as a measuring stick for how successfully the objectives of Minnesota Leather Pride are being met.

Congratulations Riches - Great Lakes Ms. Leather Pride 2014 and Tim - Great Lakes Leather boy 2015

In the first year that Minnesota has officially joined the Great Lakes region, the two local contestants to compete at Great Lakes Leather Alliance weekend - held August 21-24 in Indianapolis, Indiana - WON and are coming home with a new leather sash!

To welcome our newest titleholders home in a big way, Minnesota Leather Pride is hosting a GLLA Victory Party on Friday, September 12 from 8:30-10 p.m. in back corner bar of the Saloon. Celebrate with Riches - Great Lakes Ms. Leather Pride 2014 and Tim - Great Lakes Leather boy 2015 as we toast their great success and all the best during their title year. Stick around after the Victory Party for the kick off to Kink U Minneapolis weekend - the Kink Kaberet and Dungeon Dance featuring live kink demos to the music of DJ MF.

Riches began her leather journey ten years ago, guided by her master, Sergeant Major and by all the wonderful leather men and leather women with whom she came in contact. Learning all she can about the leather lifestyle she shares her knowledge with other that they may know the values of the leather traditions in life and relationships. A board member and current treasurer of Minnesota Leather Pride, Riches also serves on the board of Leather Journey. She is an associate member of the Atons of Minneapolis and of Chicago Leather Club and a member of NLA-I and Women in Leather International. In 2006 Riches and Sergeant Major founded MAsT: Twin Cities. She is the producer of a submissives-only retreat to be held in September 2014. While Riches is soft-spoken at times, she can really get loud, but that's a story for another time!

Tim also serves on the Minnesota Leather Pride board, is a full member of the Titans of the Midwest and the North Star Kennel Club, and is an Associate Member of the Atons of Minneapolis. He enjoys helping to put on educational demonstrations and discussions for those newly exploring their kinks and has used unexpected public scenes as a way to get people actively talking about the joys of kinky play. If you see him at the an event, he encourages you to say 'Hi'. Tim identifies as a boy with pup tendencies. His favorite hanky colors are grey, black, and magenta (though he flags many more) and he likes to be an active participant in his own submission.

GLLA 2015 will be held October 1-4 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Winners of the new Minnesota Leather Sir and Minnesota Leather boy titles will go to GLLA to compete for Great Lakes regional titles. As stated on the GLLA website: "The mission of the Great Lakes Leather Alliance is to build bridges between the Leather, BDSM, D/s, M/s, fetish, and alternative sexual lifestyle communities. The Great Lakes Leather Alliance hopes to promote education and enhance communication between each of these groups, and to promote the success and welfare of the individuals and organizations within our combined community. We especially want to protect against threats to our freedom of expression."
