MNLP 2018 Theme: Resist

The word RESIST in black letters on a white background.

RESIST

We've seen that word all over the place in recent months. It seems fitting that this is the 2018 theme for Minnesota Leather Pride. We are currently accepting artwork submissions for this theme. We will use this artwork for our annual MNLP Dog Tags and other promotional items throughout the year.

Each year the theme, selected from community suggestions, is the driving force in our programming and message.

This year Resist was chosen. Resist boxes. Resist racists. Resist labels. Resist fascists. Resist erasure. Resist misogyny. Resist trans-phobia. Resist stereotypes. Resist the 'should'. Resist the 'supposed to'.

What does resistance look like to you? Show us with your art. If you are unable to upload your file through the link please send a note to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so we may assist.

Submit your artwork here: https://goo.gl/forms/DoDm45s48qZS7Pki1

Deadline is November 12th.

Minneapolis, MN: The Minnesota Leather Pride (MNLP) Board is pleased to announce the theme for the 2017 activities is Walk In Here Boots. Along with this theme, MNLP is again selling souvenir dog tags displaying the theme.

As in past years, all members of the community were welcome to submit theme and design ideas. The theme and artwork were chosen at the November 2016 meeting and finalized at the December meeting. Local artist and board member Andrew Bertke created both the theme and the artwork.

Since the original Minnesota Leather Pride dog tag in 1994, the annual souvenir dog tags are a fundraiser for Minnesota Leather Pride. Kinky Squares Wrapup

This past Saturday we held our fall charity fundraising event, Kinky Squares. Teams from throughout our community representing the Atons of Minneapolis, Knights of Leather, North Star Kennel Club, Minnesota Leather Sex Project, DsMN and Twin Cities Leather each donated an entry fee in order participate. The winner of the event would then get to donate all the team fees to the charity of their choice.

Twin Cities Leather was the winner of the first Kinky Squares, and in a moment that showed the continued generosity of our community asked that the money be split with the second place team, North Star Kennel Club. Because of their generosity we will be donating $300 on behalf of Twin Cities Leather to Youthlink (http://www.youthlinkmn.org) and $300 on behalf of the North Star Kennel Club to Secondhand Hounds (http://secondhandhounds.org), a no-kill shelter. Other charities that our teams were playing for were Reclaim (http://reclaim.care/) and Avenues for Homeless Youth (http://avenuesforyouth.org/).

Thank you toThe Saloon for giving us the space, and the services of Nick our event guru, and our most awesome bartender Ryan! Thank you to all of our awesome volunteers; Mark, David, Sterling, Jeff, Pup Omega, Christopher, Jodi and Dylan, and everyone else who stepped up to help even if they weren't 'officially' volunteers. Not to mention the Minnesota Leather Pride Board itself for its support and time. Thank you to Evie from the Twin Cities girls of Leather for manning the coat check for us. Thank you to our MC Steve Lenius, who was just an amazing host for our event, thank you for your time.

Last, but most certainly and definitely not least, thank you to our Celebrity Squares. Without you all the event would have been a much duller undertaking. Minnesota Leather Pride's annual charity fundraiser gameshow-style-event is coming back on November 19th, 1-5pm at the Saloon! This year's game is Kinky Squares, our take on the Hollywood style tic-tac-toe gameshow, where our local celebrities fill the squares and answer all kinds of kinky questions. Playing in teams of 4 or 5, contestants will have to agree or disagree with the celebrity's answer, and the correct answer wins the square!

Sign you team up today! The team entrance fee is $100 ($50 deposit due with signup, and remainder due at check in on November 19th), and all proceeds of the game will be going to the winning team's chosen charity. We only have slots for 8 teams, so sign your team up today on our Eventbrite page.

You Can Design the 2017 Dog Tags

Minneapolis, MN: The board of Minnesota Leather Pride (MNLP) has narrowed our selection of potential themes for 2017 to two: F*ck It! and Walk in Her Boots. The board is now accepting design and concept submissions for both potential themes to be used for the annual MNLP dog tags, t-shirts, and other marketing materials. The board will select the final theme when the final artwork is selected.

When these themes were suggested, the contributor included the following descriptions:

F*CK IT!
"A year of breaking the rules and limitations that hold us back. A year to be bold. I think this can have a bit, or more than a bit, of a punk attitude. A year of not worrying about being pretty, but being dirty and gritty."

Walking In Her Boots
"Optional subtheme: Celebration of Women in Leather. A year to focus our thinking towards women in leather and how we can all be inclusive and welcoming. "

As in past years, all members of the community are welcome to submit concepts/designs. Submissions are due November 7. A PDF of the dog tag size can be downloaded from www.mnleatherpride.org/images/dog-tag-outlines.pdf.

Concepts/designs should be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and the submissions will be reviewed by the board on November 14. A final theme and design will be determined on December 12.

Submitting designers are encouraged but not required to attend the November 14 meeting and present their concept/design. While artistic renderings are encouraged, written descriptions of design concepts are also welcome.
